Olde English Bulldogge
Country of Origin: | U.S.A |
Height: | 16-18 inches at the shoulder for females and 17-19 for males |
Weight: |
65-75lbs for females, 70-85lbs for males. |
Color: | All colors are accepted in solids and various shades of brindles. No merles. |
Coat: | Short and sleek. This is a single coated breed and cannot live outside year round. |
Character: | They are amazing pets and great family dogs as well as personal guardians. They love people and other animals. They are soft at heart and you rarely have to resort to physical discipline, as a scolding is more than effective. They are willing to please and will follow you at every turn. This is a breed that can be upset by you’re leaving, making a crate a valuable tool in training. They are a good 9-5 dog and will eagerly await their playtime when you get home. |
Temperament: |
They are very stable dogs and will only protect when need-be. Otherwise, they are happy and very clown-like in nature. Always looking for love and affection from anyone who will provide it. |
Care: | Occasional bathing and brushing to remove dead hair is all that is needed to keep this coat in good condition. |
Training: | These dogs are intelligent and fast learners, making them an IDEAL family pet and protector! They are not hyper or hard to control. |
Activity: |
They take after the original working type dogs. They are capable of weight pulling; catch work, agility, personal protection (some lines) and most jobs you can throw at them! They are also quite content with lounging around the house for hours at a time and sleeping in late with their owners. |
Description: |
These are not to be mistaken for the commonly known English Bulldog! These dogs were created as a healthy alternative to the modern day bulldog and should have little to no health issues. They are larger, more athletic, and more agile than their English counterparts. These guys love to hike! They live longer (12-15yrs vs. 6-12). They should breed and whelp naturally vs. needing Artificial Inseminations and caesarian sections. Most can swim! (English Bulldogs can't for many reasons). They don't have the same heat intolerance that the Bulldogs do either, because of a slightly elongated muzzle. They are susceptible to any of the problems that may affect the contributing breeds (English Bulldog, American Bulldog, various breeds of mastiff, and occasionally pit bull and/or boxer has been used) in this re-creation. But all dogs used in any breeding program should be screened and eliminated from the program, if having major health concerns. |
