Coat: | (Smooth Coats) Short, smooth and sleek, solid color (Longhairs) Longer hair on the ears and hind quarters. Their body coat is slightly shorter than ears and hind quarters, but is sleek and soft. The longhairs are comparable to the coat of an English Setter |
Character: | Clever, lively and courageous. Highly intelligent and sometimes cunning. |
Temperament: |
These dogs have a great temperament; easily get along other dogs if properly socialized, wonderful with children and very tolerant. |
Care: | Smooth coats are easily cared for with very little brushing or bathing. They are a “hose and go” breed. The longhairs require a bit more brushing to keep knots out of their ears and briars from their coats. |
Training: | Easily trained, highly intelligent and sometimes too clever. Their intelligence will sometimes surprise you. |
Activity: | Very energetic and need lots of attention. They need a lot of room to run or be on an exercise program to keep them fit, both mentally and physically. People with very active lifestyles are more apt to the Weim. |

The Weimaraner was developed by the Germans mainly for large game hunting. Today, the Weim is used mostly for house companions and upland or wetland bird hunting. |
